Why is my diploma a QQI Level 6 and not a Level 5?

Irish levels run one number higher than the European EQF. An EQF Level 5 diploma is a QQI Level 6 in Ireland. Same qualification, different scale.

Do I need the Leaving Cert to start?

Not for the foundation diploma, which has no entry requirements. The QQI Level 6 diploma needs the Leaving Cert, a foundation, or relevant work experience.
