Who this is for.

People who do the numbers already, and people moving towards them.

  • Accounts clerks and bookkeepers who want the certificate that names the work
  • People in administration, customer service or sales moving into finance
  • Small-business owners who keep their own books
  • Anyone aiming at ACCA who wants the degree route, and its exemptions, first

The foundation is for someone new to accounting. Most people with a year or two in an accounts office go straight to the QQI Level 6.

How QQI levels work in Ireland.

Ireland uses the QQI framework, which numbers levels differently from the EQF. A QQI Level 6 is the same level as an EQF Level 5. Irish NFQ and EQF levels compared →

Finance & accounting in Ireland: the questions we get.

Does the accounting diploma count towards ACCA?

The diploma is the route to the degree, and it is the BA (Hons) Accounting and Finance top-up that carries ACCA exemptions, subject to ACCA. Exemptions are always ACCA’s decision; we check your position with them before you commit to the papers.

Can I sit ACCA exams in Ireland?

Yes. The papers are taught in live online evening classes by LSBF, recorded for replay, and the exams are sat in Ireland.

Do I need maths?

For the diploma, a QQI Level 5 qualification or work experience is enough. Arden University asks for a pass in GCSE Mathematics or the equivalent for the accounting degree.

Is the diploma recognised in Ireland?

It is awarded by OTHM, regulated by Ofqual in the UK. On Ireland’s framework the level is its QQI equivalent, under QQI’s own referencing of the EQF, and the certificate is recognised across the EU.
