Will the Get Qualified Scheme Be Extended? Here’s What We Know So Far

The Get Qualified Scheme has been a fantastic opportunity for students in Malta, offering a 70% refund on tuition fees for eligible courses approved by Malta Enterprise. But with the scheme set to expire on 31st December 2024, many students are wondering—will it be extended?

The Uncertainty Around Extension

As of now, we don’t have a definite answer. The scheme’s deadline has been extended before, with a one-year extension granted in 2023. Given this history, there’s hope that a similar extension could be announced. However, with the recent appointment of George Gregory as the new CEO of Malta Enterprise, it’s possible the organization’s priorities could shift, affecting decisions like the extension of this scheme. Read more about the leadership change here.

What Does This Mean for Students?

If you’re currently enrolled or planning to enroll in a course but are worried about missing the deadline, here’s what you need to know:

  • Students who have an acceptance letter or proof of course commencement before 31st December 2024 will still be able to claim their refund, even if they complete the course after the deadline. So, as long as you secure your spot before the cut-off, you should be covered.

When Will We Know More?

Unfortunately, there’s no clear timeline for when a decision about extending the scheme will be made. If an extension is announced, it would likely be before the 2024 deadline. But until then, we recommend planning as if the scheme will not be extended, to avoid missing out.

What Can You Do Now?

Here are some practical steps to ensure you don’t miss out on the benefits of the Get Qualified Scheme:

1. I want the 70% refund but can’t commit right now.

You can secure your spot by paying a deposit. Elephant & Cross offers students the option to pay their first instalment to secure their spot and begin the course officially by 31st December 2024, ensuring you’re eligible for the refund, even if you don’t finish by that date.

2. I’m undecided about my course choice.

No problem! You can reserve a place in a course now and change your area of study before the 31st December 2024 deadline. Many programs offer flexibility, and even a 7-day money-back guarantee. This means students can try the course and either get a full refund or change their topic within the first 7 days for free.

3. I know what I want to study but can’t commit fully before the deadline.

Our diploma courses offer flexible learning schedules, allowing you to start now and proceed at your own pace. As long as you officially start by 31st December 2024, you’re good to go.

We encourage students to stay updated and take action early. If you need any further guidance or have questions about available courses, don’t hesitate to contact our course advisors.
