What is ACCA? 

ACCA (Association of Chartered Certified Accountants) is the world leading accountancy qualification for aspiring financial professionals. How to start ACCA in Malta
1) Before you apply for ACCA in Malta, get in touch with a trusted institution like Elephant & Cross who can advise you personally on next steps.
2) Make sure you have the minimum entry requirements to start your ACCA journey. The entry requirements are: 3 GCSES (‘O’ levels) and 2 A’Levels (or equivalent) including Maths & English or an MQF level 4 foundation diploma in Accounting.
3) Next, register with ACCA and The Malta Institute of Accountants (MIA) according to the Joint Scheme Agreement. 
  • Go to the global ACCA website here
  • Navigate to “Apply Online”
  • Gather Your Essentials: Before diving in, make sure you’ve got everything you need. This includes identification like your passport or driver’s license, and if your documents aren’t in English, get them officially translated.
  • Qualification Check: ACCA needs to know you’re ready for the challenge. You’ll be asked to show evidence that you meet their minimum entry requirements. It’s all about making sure you’re set up for success.
  • Uploading Documents: It’s digital paperwork time! Upload all the necessary documents, including your qualifications and any additional forms required, like parental consent if you’re under a specific age threshold.
  • The registration isn’t complete without sorting out the payment. Choose your preferred payment method to seal the deal. This currently costs £89.00.
  • Think You Might be Exempt?: If you’ve got previous qualifications or experience that might exempt you from some exams, you can apply for these exemptions during your registration. Just make sure you’ve got the proof ready to upload.
4) Local Partnerships Matter: you need to register the MIA (Malta Institute of Accountants).
  • Navigate to their website here
  • You will be asked to fill in personal information and upload documentation (ID Card)
  • The yearly fee for membership to the MIA costs €80.00 for students
5) Once you have the registration, you can go ahead and enrol onto an ACCA tuition programme that will prepare you for the exams and to become an Chartered Accountant in Malta.
 
When are the ACCA examinations?

When it comes to the ACCA exam schedule in Malta, certain modules are flexible and can be completed throughout the year. Other modules in the ACCA examination timetable follows a set schedule – March, June, September, and December.
